Guess That Appetizer

Can you guess what I had as an appetizer for dinner last Friday? It's been years since I had this delicacy, but it won't be that long before I enjoy this again. I forgot exactly how tasty this dish is. I used to have it occasionally in my youth. It's still available in many restaurants in Michigan due to the number of French who used to inhabit the state. Send your guesses in a comment.

Um...not being one to partake of French food, I'm clueless here. Squab?

Must be coon brains.
There be plenty o'coons on the road this time o' year as they wakey up from hibernation and then turn into freeway frisbees.

Escargot? French equals escargot to me. I so love it too. All that garlic and the warm French bread. YUMMY! Have a great day. :)

Hmmmm...it looks kinda yucky. I'll take your word for it that it's good.

Okay, time to give you the answer: frog's legs. Ever had 'em? Yummy, even though I understand that the concept is strange/disgusting for most.

I would have guessed wrong. I had them once but I wasn't all that impressed. Of course, it was a very long time ago so maybe I should try them again.

Is the frog population bouncing back? For a while frogs didn't seem to be doing so well.

Marilyn: The frog population is always bouncing! :-) They're best if they're slathered with butter, garlic and parsley. I promise I won't eat them often to make sure the little ones have a chance to repopulate.

Yes, frogs legs are indeed very good. I've had them more than once. :)

I had frog legs once, when I was in my early 20's.
They're not bad if you just spend most of the chewing experience trying to forget what they actually are.

Man, I would have never guessed frog's legs! Love 'em though. Through out the South and Southeast we take flash lights and frog gigs and hunt them around creeks, streams and farm ponds. And yes they are great!

Came here by way of Trav's Thoughts. Have a great week-end!
